Colin Firth owns this role

There have been other appealing Darcys. David Rintoul, my first Darcy, was so handsome and appropriate in the role. Lawrence Olivier was noble and gorgeous in the bloom of youth. Matthew McFadyen was a likeable enough Darcy, with brooding depths. But Colin Firth so completely embodies the man, with such perfection of looks and action. I daresay Jane Austen herself would approve him as the very likeness of the character she created.

Ranking Darcys, from best to no, 1. Firth, 2. Rintoul, 3. Olivier, and 4. McFadyen (who didn't register at all with me).

He completely owns it!

Firth is definitely the best Darcy I've ever seen.

Remember the look on his face when he came into the country ball and looked at it with this astonishing mixture of snobbery and shtness? No change in his gentlemanly expression, yet all his feelings were perfectly evident.

"mixture of snobbery and shtness"

Interesting typo! Now is it supposed to be shyness or shitness???

reply

"shyness"

Dang, I can't blame that one on the autocorrect!

reply

Just blame it on your great imagination!
