Disturbing/Freaky moments

How did some of the episodes end up on air? some of them were actually pretty brutal and scary.
Take for example, Werewolf Skin; The kid grabs a shovel an starts beating the crap out of two werewolves. Or One Day At Horrorland, one of the monsters is holding the decapitated head of a girl..

I know right now that these episodes probably would`nt be on tv right now. I`m just wondering how they ended up airing some of them because re watching them, They`re actually kind of disturbing.

Any episodes or moments that stand out to you?

The mean girl being turned into statue at the end of Be Careful What You Wish For was quite sad/disturbing in a way.

The episodes that creepy me out as a kid were:

Ghost Beach - where those two kids were ghosts and then that creepy cave on the cliff and then the parents at the end were ghosts and wanted to eat them.

Tower of Terror - That old hag at the dinner table in that high class hotel, when Eddie and Sue hide inside the restaurant and then Sue see's this women eating this nice cake at the table and then Sue see's her tuen into this old hag from medieval times, her face full of muck and dirt, ungly and fat, and eating a huge chicken with her hands. Then she looks at Sue while eating this huge chicken with this creepy medieval tune playing in the background. Scared the hell out of me as a kid, even today i still get haunted watching that scene lol...

Fever Swamp had a lot of disturbing and unsettling moments, with the death of a old man that was trying to kids. A kid that falls into a pit of acid and melts. A house that's clawed and destroyed, with the music also.

Let me see what I remember. These won't be in any order, and these will have spoilers.

1) The Haunted Mask

Self-explanatory.

2) Let's Get Invisible

The ending for me was more horrific than the rest of the episode. It's the whole "implied" ending, that Noah's gone and his mirrored self is in his place.

3) The Cuckoo Clock of Doom

Much like with #2, it's the whole ending and what they openly state; that Michael screwed up with the natural order of things so badly that he erased Tara's existence...and doesn't seem to mind what he did.

4) Attack of the Jack o' Lanterns

I really don't like this episode, feeling that it was so sub-par compared to the others. But, I will say that the ending was pretty freaky and off-putting to me, even now as an adult.

There's a subplot in the episode about people in a neighboring town disappearing, and it becomes a wraparound, where it's revealed that Drew's friends (Shane and Shana) are aliens who claim to be responsible for them. Before leaving, Drew offers them a share of her candy, but say they don't eat candy--only human flesh. They also tell them to not be worried, because they only eat adults, so they're safe...for now.

5) The Haunted Mask II

I think the whole implication in the final scene is the scariest part; where after the four (Carly Beth, Steve, Chuck, and Sabrina) try to dispose of the masks by burning them, one of their dogs takes the mask Carly Beth tried to get rid of out of the fire place and into the yard when they aren't looking. While trying to bury it, the mask seems like it's trying to fight back--despite it not being Halloween night anymore, supposedly the only night the masks can come to life.

The suggestion ties into something that's made very clear in both of the episodes/books; and it's that you get a "three strike" system with the masks, and once you put them on three times--they won't come off, not even with the whole "symbol of love" thing. Seeing as how the mask stalked Carly Beth throughout the course of this one, it only makes sense that Carly Beth's life is now in constant danger--and it's very likely that nothing can save her at this point, not even her friends or the shop keeper.

Pretty much the entire premise of An Old Story. A Witch pretends to be related to little boys, curses them into old age, and effectively pimps them out to her friends.
It's pretty horrific when you stop and think about it.

I still consider Welcome to Dead House creepier and more brilliantly composed than most horror films created these days

I agree that for a kid's show, Goosebumps did have some eerie moments. Episodes that stand out to me would be The Haunted Mask, Werewolf Skin, Fever Swamp, and Horrorland. Especially The Haunted Mask. Dang there were some creepy moments throughout that episode. And plus that house of mirrors scene in Horrorland. Seriously. Kinda creepy.
