Why would anyone approach a wild animal?

approach a wild animal??? and then once the wild animal is injured, attempt to carry it????

I would understand if he had run over a cat or dog, since that is someones potential pet, i understand wanting to get the animal to a vet. But a wild animal?

reply

It was just one more way to show the audience what a nice guy Will was. He cared about the animal's state because he had hit it with his car. He felt guilt over it. He was still trying to help it when it bit him, which I think is why he was never overpowered by the darker side of the curse.

No matter how nice anyone is, any person with common sense knows not to approach an injured animal. If they are willing to attack when they are at normal strength, they are stronger and more unpredictable when injured.

reply

I tend to injured animals all the time, regardless of how dangerous they are. I'm not a vet or anything, I just care more for animals than I do for people. If I see an injured animal, I go to help, regardless of how dangerous the animal might be. I have plenty of scars as proof, but common sense has nothing to do with your reaction to an injured animal.

wow, you really should be careful you could end up getting seriously hurt one day, or at the very least end up getting rabies. common sense should have everything to do with dealing with an injured animal. if you dont use common sense the animal you are trying to save, will see you as a threat, and hurt you.

Have you ever seen those dog rescuers? They approach and pet without any protection on their hands animals that are aggressive, sick, etc. I love dogs but I would be wearing some type of protection trying to leash a stray dog.

reply

Or to put a more realistic turn to the question, it allowed the wolf to bite Will and, in turn, allow the events of the movie to unfold. :)

reply

it might have been more realistic, if he was helping an injured dog, only to find the wolf on the side ready to pounce on the dog and him.

reply

I don't think Will knew the animal was alive before it bit him. He might've thought it was dead and was simply trying to drag its corpse off the road before it surprised him and bit him.

Some of you guys aren't too bright. Sometimes being a good Samaritan can get you killed.

You could have just made your point with the second sentence and left it at that. I hate when people make comments like that in order to feel superior, "some of you guys aren't too bright". What an ass.

I hear you, IcySpoon. That "manofsteel4455" (huh huh) most likely felt bad about himself and wanted to make other people feel like he does. He shared his ill-being in order to feel less alone. Well, it's been 7 years so hopefully he changed for the better but social media and forums are FULL of frustrated people and most are way worse than "manofsteel4455".

Let's all go get bitten by a wolf and have our self-confidence issues resolved, lol.

My impression was that he thought it was dead (or mortally wounded) and was simply removing the carcass from the road so that it wouldn't be desecrated, and also to protect other drivers. Only when his head was turned did the wolf open its eyes.

The bigger question is: How does the wolf get up and run away, spry as can be, after just getting hit straight-on by a vehicle?

reply

its a wolf so it has extra strength, it probably just felt sore. lol

reply

Because that was no ordinary wolf. One does not turn into a wolf just by being bitten by an ordinary wolf. Especially since there wasn't supposed to be any wolves in that state anymore (people in the movie have a hard time believing him when he says it was a wolf and we saw LOTS of wolf eyes looking back at him when he went back to his car).

It was someone who got turned and had enhanced healing abilities as it was also a full moon... just like we see Will turn completely at the very end of the movie (the cycle repeating itself).

reply

I guess I would just for thinking it was a dog. I really thought he was trying to move a hurt dog in the beginning. It sounded just like one too when it whelped and bit him, then ran off.

In order to make sure it was dead and not suffering. Anyone who lives in any kind of non urban environment will likely end up hitting some kind of animal and you dont always kill it on impact and the humane thing to do is to put it out of its misery.

Will thought the wolf was dead, there was even a shot of it with it's tongue hanging out of it's mouth. I believe he was dragging it off of the road so as not to be run over by another vehicle.

He was also checking to make sure it was dead and if necessary kill it.

Been there. You're truly better off leaving it alone, even if you've suffered damage to yourself or your vehicle. Saw my share lay there for awhile then get up and make tracks.

Bear in mind the dramatic license involved: This wasn't "just a wolf" he was dealing with...

reply

Being the sensitive soul he was, Will Randall felt sorry for the wolf.
