I'm always on the edge of my seat during the crash scene when I watch it on my TV. How exciting do you think it was to watch in the theater?

Well, 1 thing is for sure: Captain Kirk deserved a much better sendoff than this piece of shit.. The only TREK movie that matters is The Wrath of Khan

Ok, when you said "How exciting was the crash in theatres", I thought you were referring to this movies box office run at the time this came out because I don't recall this being received very well??
