Did Shawshank deserve its place as the highest rated film on imdb?

Since there is currently no polling option, I will list the choices from A to E.
A. Yes
B. Belongs in the top 10
C. Belongs in the top 250
D. Belongs in the top 1000
E. Completely overrated.

With all this talk of genre to genre, and that a drama film should not be voted with a fantasy film, etc., I will name what I consider the best film of its genre.

Comedy - Young Frankenstein (followed closely by Bringing Up Baby)
Drama - The Shawshank Redemption (followed closely by On Golden Pond)
Fantasy - The Lord Of The Rings (followed closely by Dragonheart)
Horror - Jaws (followed closely by Horror Of Dracula)
Musicals - Singin' In The Rain (followed closely by The Music Man)
Science Fiction - The Time Machine (1960 version) (followed closely by War Of The Worlds (1953))
War - Saving Private Ryan (followed closely by Run Silent, Run Deep)
Western - Silverado (followed closely by The Magnificent Seven)
Of course there are differing subgenres to all the basic genres, i.e. Film Noir for Drama, Superhero films for Science Fiction, and so on. But these are my feelings.

C and possibly D. It is not in my personal top 100 but would probably make it into my top 250. It is a good film but also very overrated. If this poll were about the top 100 of most overrated films then I would certainly choose A. :)
