Is charlie a victim of his mother's hate for scott?

I mean, what is so concerning about believing your father is santa claus? and Her boytoy even tries to convince charlie that Santa Claus doesn't exist.

It was actually Niel who hated Scott. But he had character development by the second movie and warmed up to him.

I don't even think his mom hates him. I think she is being pressured by Neal to be against him.

They had already told Charlie there was no SC, so Scott was "undermining" them.

It was more than Charlie believing in the big red gift giver, he believed that Scott was and that he had personally been to the North Pole (because he actually did go there, his stories would have been ridiculously and even strangely detailed).

I think Laura was shown to hide her feelings for Scott's somewhat puerile behavior as a father well from Charlie when she and Scott disagreed.

But, do I agree they overreacted? Absolutely.
