Was there any deeper significance to the fact that Zed was a guy who worked in security?

Idk why, but that detail has always stuck out to me. Was there any significant symbolism/meaning to this aspect and character detail or was it just a random element to the details of the character?

Working in security in the past was probably his only job of "importance".

Maybe he wanted to feed his ego. Maybe he craved athority. Maybe the only job he could hold was managing a pawn shop.

Maybe he just dug wearing the uniform.

Who the hell knows? Zed was a strange dude.

Yes a interesting little nuance that QT put in.

Some security guards are cop wantabes. Many flunk out because they can't pass the psych exam or have a criminal past.

My guess is that Zed failed the psych test. "When you see little white bunnies, do you want to hit them with a bat?"
