The look of this movie always turned me off from watching it.

Every time I've seen a clip, the boom lighting is insane. The white just bounces off the light and is damn near blinding. It looks like a dream sequence.

I wanted to like this because I love the original, but there is nothing at all likable about this version to me. Even the little girl is annoying, and as much as I generally like Elizabeth Perkins, she was annoying as well.

But I did see this on the IMDB page:

The director of photography decided to put a light above each of the actor's and actress's heads during all of the shots to give a distinct glow behind them. As this was popular in the 1990s, it helped give a warm feel to the remake of a classic movie.

The next time it's on, I'll look for that.

I knew there was something up with the lighting. Every time this was on TV and I would catch a few scenes, it was just so jarring. He's Santa, not an angel.

Well, you were right.

I hadn't notice it but there was a window of time (1990s?) when every film had a blue tinge to it. Anyone else remember that?
