Johnny Depp and Martin Landau

They give some magnificent performances. Johnny's performance as Ed with such energy and hopefullness was so good. I laughed especially at the police scene where he said "run". Then Landau, WOW just brilliant just became Lugosi. Great performances

I agree, and amazing chemistry between the two.

Yes, they delivered some outstanding performances. Arguably their best work.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

I completely agree. It's sad how overlooked this movie is. This is truly one of my favorite films.

Johnny Depp's portrayal of Ed Wood sounded so much like Jon Lovitz's pathological liar Tommy Flanagan character from SNL that I was waiting to hear "Yeah, that's the ticket!" It truly added to the humor of the movie. ☺

Landau thoroughly deserved his Oscar, and in my opinion, Depp should have been nominated AND won Best Actor for this film. Huge oversight by the Academy. Not to mention this is Burton's best film and he got overlooked for direction and the film for Best Picture.

Martin Landau’s performance as Bela Lugosi in “Ed Wood” might be the best portrayal of a real person.

the jon lovitz bit is true, also funny how the original criswell sounds similar to cnn's paula newton, this is not the only post about the lovitz bit on this board. i guess edward d wood jr wouldn't have been as catchy of a title, speaking of catchy, what a great soundtrack, i've never seen opening credits on tombstones before. the costumes review bit reminded of the "family guy" lincoln bit. there are several topics about this being tim burton's greatest movie and underrated and forgotten, i've only seen it air on television once. the dvd of this has loads of bonus material. orson welles really appears dubbed. 🧛 bela, i mean landau, moves great with the octopus 🐙. i have actually enjoyed some real edward d wood jr movies, like "night of the ghouls" featured in elvira's midnight madness collection. weird the movie features the real bela lugosi as well, movies from the time this takes place would never accept the kind of language found in the dialogue of this movie. the "could you please keep it down" line from sarah jessica parker bit was funny, by the way, an alternative movie poster has her removed from it. ed wood: "i need transvestites", bela lugosi: "eddie... what kind of a movie is this?".
