Because spanking just teaches a child how to hit, and the way to correct a situation is to either hit it or force it to change.

Nope, that's simplistic and false. Spanking is emotionally and psychologically harmful (and it's been linked to stunted cognitive development) but it doesn't turn all boys into abusive wifebeaters. Some of them become masochists.
