Why is this movie not more popular?

I always thought is was very funny. Genuinely funny, not just stupid gags (although they do a few, but they didn't overdo it which is key). Don't get me wrong, I love all kinds of humor. Dumb and Dumber and the Naked Gun are 2 of my favorite comedies, but I like more subtle comedies like this as well. And his poems were great. Un-love-...ed? great stuff.

I gave it a pretty high rating, not a 10, but I do hope people try to raise the score. A very under appreciated movie. I don't think it did that great at the box office either, which is a shame. Maybe the marketing wasn't very good for this.

I remember hearing about "So I Married an Axe Murderer" when it first came out. At the time, I loved Mike Myers in SNL, so I knew it that it would be a good comedy - but the title turned me off. I wish now that I had taken a date out to see it at the time... would have been a wonderful experience.

5 years later, in 1998 I was dating a girl who loved it, and she begged me to watch it with her on VHS. Hesitatingly I agreed... I loved it! I like off-beat romantic comedies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlkoQ4bUE5k

If the title had been better with more effective marketing, it could have been a blockbuster ala "Four Weddings and a Funeral" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVeKCmvepGs or "My Best Friend's Wedding" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-J4xYOxJ9w.

Underrated - I think that it is a classic. Most in my circle of acquaintances like it... actually might be a slow moving cult hit film.

The film kind of tanked. It was not a great movie but deserved to do better.

Its that man again!!

I saw at the cinema when it came out and didn't think much of it.

I bought it on DVD and have watched it maybe 50 times and I love it.

I honestly don't know why I didn't like it on first seeing, maybe I was in a bad mood.

Someone (idiot) posted 'It was popular twenty or so years ago. It is a middleweight comedy, not something that grows in stature as it ages', I think the opposite and it (fact) wasn't popular when it came out, and it is far better and deserves to be a to be a cult classic.

I do think that the scenes that are 'Scottish themed' will be lost on a broad audience (if you know what I mean). Wayne's world was totally mainstream, and great, so too much of a jump for that same broad audience.

Also Hellooooo, IS funny!

I don't know but I think it's his best comedy...that I've seen anyway I'm sure I haven't seen every Mike Myers movie.

Because it's just not that funny.

Watched this movie for the first time with my family about a year ago. I really liked the concept. Pretty dark but also fun. I thought it was funny from beginning to end. I watched it again by myself since it's free on YouTube and I still enjoyed it. The opening scene with him singing "wooooooooman" is hilarious.
