Soundtrack similar to Predator's

I don't know, maybe it's just me.

I've just watched the movie after reading about the workprint, which actually used Predator's soundtrack as temp music.

Guess Renny Harlin really wanted this movie to have that sound, who knows, but I gotta say it's pretty close during the more somber/downbeat moments.

It actually reminded me a lot of 'The Last of the Mohicans', not surprising considering Trevor Jones provided the score for both films.

"Mr. Treehorn treats objects like women, man."

I completely agree, db72. There's one phrase that comes back time after time, and that is identical to the first part of the main theme of Mohicans...but then resolves differently (and disappointingly). The trouble is that before I was able to identify it in my movie memory banks, I found it incredible distracting - all I could think about was, "What the hell does that music remind me of?"

I eventually remembered what it was (and was unsurprised to discover that the movies share a composer), and rather hoped that I could now put it out of my mind. But no: I've just watched Cliffhanger again on TV, and now all I can think about when that tune starts is how much I'd rather be watching the considerably superior Mohicans...not to mention getting to hear the whole of the wonderful theme!

Would you REALLY rather watch Mohicans than Cliffhanger... really?

Watch the final fight in predator and then watch the fight between Sylvester and Leon Robinson. It’s like the director watched the Predator fight all night long and then shot that scene.
And, Michael Rooker says “stick around” to John Lithgow’s character near the end.

I was just watching Cliffhanger on TV and yeah, the music is almost exactly the same as Predator, and they're two different composers.

At some points I heard Beauty and the Beast for some reason.

I'm surprised that there was no lawsuit.
