Frank was NOT smiling

I've read these threads here about how Frank was "smiling" during Sarah's scenes where she splats. I JUST saw that scene a minute ago. If you watch the film carefully, from the moment Frank is outside of the chopper, you will see he has the same facial expression when Mike Rooker (Hal) comes over on the wire. So it all clearly has something to do with the environment (chopper, wind etc). Of course none of this was real, so he was directed to use those expressions, but it had to be based upon fact/experience.

Gotta admit though, it sure looks odd.

Frank was absolutely thrilled that Sarah died lol.

Obviously Frank's sister died while his parents watched. He used a hammer to weaken the metal, and the winds were created by his rotor blades. You see the only way for Frank to get the sexual release he seeks is to watch his victims fall while their loved one's watched. He paints a banana eating a banana because he is gay too.

Not only was Frank smiling, he was laughing too. Just watch his mouth as he loses his composure at the point where Hal shouts out "Noooo!" when Gabe drops Sarah. Of course the sound was omitted out of the final cut though.

Frank was grinning like a madman and was relishing every moment of that nail-biting scene.

He sure was my friend but he was not laughing when Delmar cut him down!

"He paints a banana eating a banana because he is gay too."

What movie did you watch?

He painted a banana eating a MONKEY, reversing the usual, natural thing. Which could imply that he is gay, for sure. But still, you are wrong.

I just watched that clip. Gave me a good chuckle.

He was or just is a bad actor, either way, it came out bad.

That 'smile' look is actually not uncommon amongst the populous. There was a head referee in the NFL that whenever he stood and addressed the camera looked like he had a smile or grin on his face but that was just the face he was born with. If you check out Ralph Waite's other movies, you will notice that when he is doing an intense scene, that unusual grin comes out. Is it a grin, yes. Is he happy or laughing, no.
This topic has been addressed regarding other actors as well.
Then again he may have been looking at Janine Turner's butt. That would bring a smile to my face.

That looks like a smile to me.

It's not smiling, it's just a flesh wound ... I mean ... bad acting.

Not only is he smiling, he looks like he's shaking the line to make things interesting.

You’re right. He wasn’t smiling. His facial expression was sheer sadistic delight.
