1st time watch...Great Movie, Fantastic Ending

I have been a Scorcese fan all my life (50 years) but never bothered to watch this until now, thinking it would be just a bit of a plain old romance thing, and it's easy to overlook in Scorcese's filmography, it's little talked about.

Absolutely blown away by that last 15 minutes, and very impressed with the movie all round. Some brilliant Scorcese flourishes too peppered throughout.

Day Lewis is top notch, and whilst not as good the ladies did a decent job.

I have been rewatching a few of his other movies recently, and,.for example, this is Waaaaay above Casino or Shutter Island more commonly popular movies of his.

Definitely need to treat it "like a book" and give it your concentration (I had headphones on, no distractions, etc), and some might find it a little bit ' dense' in the first half (with seemingly a lot.of information being thrown at the viewer) but it all soaks in, and it pays off quite beautifully.
