Plymouth Rock quote cultural appropriation ?

First of all, I respect Malcolm X because he was a person who could change , which he did several times in his life, and he was a no bull shit guy.

But the quote "We didn't land on Plymouth Rock, Plymouth rock landed on us" was borrowed from Cole Porter ( a lyric in Anything Goes). Is that cultural appropriation?

I think he was just using an expression that would have had a familiar ring to his listeners because they heard it from the popular culture of the day. Ella Fitzgerald released two recordings of the song.

So by the standard that Elvis is held to both MX and EF culturally appropriated. Thanks. I won't discuss the origins of Samba and Bossa Nova.

Also, Malcolm X was a huge music insider. According to his autobiography, he went to the hottest swing and jazz clubs back in the day and knew a lot of musicians or guys who worked with the most popular singers and musicians of the day.
