If rated R why tame sex?

Surely if it was any less tame it would have earned an NC-17. The MPAA is strict about sexual things. The fact that they got away with showing cunnilingus in 1992 is pretty crazy.

Have you watched the Uncut edition? They had to remove quite a bit to get the R rating. They show a close up of Nick putting his head between her legs for a bit of time. The "date rape" scene with Beth was also more vicious for a few seconds.
