Could an adult/up to date film work?

I grew up with this movie as a kid. I had been in karate at the time when it came out, so I was psyched to see a movie about kids my age kicking butt. I'm in my twenties now, and I always wondered if a non-kids version of this same concept could work.

Bring back the original three actors, all adults now, and see how they have turned out over the years. It definitely shouldn't be a kiddies film, though. Give me a strong R rating and show that if it comes down to it, they are prepared to enter a fight with the intention of winning, death being if they lost the match. I just think it'd be a neat approach.

Further sequels chose to use different boys in order to keep them kids, and by this time I was a teenager so I honestly didn't care anymore. I felt like "they should let the original kids play themselves and make a teenage movie." Well time has passed, now I want an adult one, Lol.

I don't know if it'd work, but I'd like to see an update. See how the brothers have gone their separate ways just to be pulled back together to help each other out again. However they could introduce new characters as well, like maybe Colt or one of the others have made friends with other martial artists or maybe even one of them went into a UFC type of thing?

That's interesting about the UFC thing, seeing as Max Elliott Slade was last known to be doing MMA. I could see Rocky having a nice quiet life with a 9-5 job, wife, kids and house, but still be keeping up with martial arts in his spare time. Tum Tum would maybe have a food-related job(chef, food critic, food scientist, etc). Colt would be doing something like UFC. Since no one could replace Victor Wong, his character would have to be deceased as well.
I could see maybe Colt getting mixed up with some underground fighting ring and getting himself into a situation where his brothers would have to bail him out. They team up, they win. Maybe a little romance, this time for Tum Tum.
Theoretically, it could work, but not with the original actors, who no longer act.

No way!

In fact, I don't see a movie like this doing well in a decade other than 80's/ early 90's.

Any Questions??

If Bill and Ted can then 3 ninjas can and bring back Magic Kid as well

The actor who played Rocky was actually set to reprise his role in a film called "R.O.C.K.Y" but it looks like that was scrapped. Would have been cool to see!

U sure? I heard he never wanted to act ever again.

For awhile a few years ago, there was a "R.O.C.K.Y" film page that said he wanted to do it. It doesn't exist anymore, but I did find:

"Rumors and reports about the boys are numerous: Treanor works in finance in Washington D.C. and was considered for a part in a 2011 regeneration of his Rocky character"

So there is a chance it could have happened, but you'd have to find him to ask what the truth of it is.

Treanor is a black belt and continues to practice as an adult. He was scheduled to portray Rocky in the 2011 cancelled film, R.O.C.K.Y.

That sounds like a great idea. I would love to see the original boys back at it again...maybe with an even darker story.

Lol! An R rated adult version of the 3bm ninjas all grown up? It's such a terrible idea that I'd have to check it out in the event someone decided to resurrect this kids martial arts B film series from the 90s.

It's funny looking back see how the first one was so ultra early 90s. The film is horribly cheesy but I loved it as a 6 year old who loved karate stuff. TMNT & Home Alone were big at the time & this film blatantly tried to cash in both with its marketing

I love the series but i doubt it would work
