The Phoenix Saga

I want to re-watch all the episodes with Jean as Phoenix. Seeing as the directing in "Dark Phoenix" leaves a bad taste in your mouth, I want to return to the superior version. I vividy remember the sad ending for Jean Gray, but still want to re-watch.

The Dark Phoenix Saga is a very difficult work to adapt in film.

The reason why is because it shows a drastic change in the character of Jean Grey, in which she allows the power of the Phoenix Force to overwhelm her. With that power, she becomes far more brazen, far more sexualized, and far more narcissistic.

The problem with doing this as a movie, however, is that first have to establish Jean Grey as demure, repressed, and considerate in order to show that there has a been a change in character for her.

Without first establishing her original character, any character change falls flat and feels disingenuous to audiences. This is why films are a bad way to show character development like that, and is far better suited for television, whose episodes better mimic the issues of comic books this storyline originally came from.

Films are good for storylines based around plot, but storylines based around characters are better suited for television. And character-based storylines are the best the X-Men titles have to offer.

Cool thanks for sharing. It's very similar to how the book will always be better than the movie. So according to the article, the Black Widow prequel movie should also suck?
