Are they like zombies?

So supposedly an immortal has to behead another in order to kill him and take his power. What if instead his strike missed and he sliced off half of the guy's head, including brain? Would that qualify?

I am just trying to find out the line between resurrectable and dead for good. What kind of injuries can they come back from?

You'd have to delve into fanfiction to find some kind of an explanation as to what would happen if they lost half their brain.. unless something like this happens in one of the various novels.

To give you some idea of what kind of what kind of injuries they can survive.. or rather not survive, they can come back from having their organs shot up.. they cannot grow back lost limbs though, someone loses their arm in the series.. also partial injuries to the neck do not always heal correctly..

As always we need to remember it is a fantasy and some things might seem slightly inconsistent, just allow for a general guideline and go with it.

They end up unable to fend for themselves, like that mentally handicapped immortal that Richie took into the train tunnel.

No it has to be a clean severe like a guillotine I'm interested if you cleanly cut one in half longways did they ever deal with arms getting cut off?

reply

That would be cool if you cut one in half longways and the two halves grew into identical immortals. But in the series, they cut off the hand of an immortal and it didn't grow back. So I'd say if the immortal didn't die outright by being bisected lengthwise, then you would end up with two wobbly half-body immortals that would be easy target for others.

reply

Maybe you could put the two halves together and the immortal would heal. I wonder about the wounds to the brain, though. They might end up like the mentally disabled dude who was obsessed with trains.

The baddie Xavier St.Cloud fought Duncan on the Seine in season one and returned in Unholy Alliance in the second season with a hook, replacing his lost hand that Duncan cut off at the end of the previous episode! Later on of course he decapitated Xavier and took his quickening in a classic battle!
