Interesting movie
I am watching it now. It's fun to learn about lesser known performers from a bygone era. This is my first time hearing about Ruan. That is sad she died at 24. I hope I can find some of her films.
shareVery ambitious combination of old footage, modern dramatic recreation and talking heads. I would have preferred a straight treatment. This presentation really kind of assumes you already know who the person was and have seen her films, that you realize her significance. This probably works okay for a native Chinese audience, but tends to limit the audience to them. I found it very slow moving and lacking in interest.
shareI agree with you there. I would have preferred a biopic or regular documentary. A few of her films are on Youtube. But I have not had a chance to see them yet.
