So... Spoilers alert...

When they realize that Marcone got the wrong briefcase, the one with explosives, and when especially that explosion happens, is it really appropriate that they should laugh about it?

What if innocents were to get hurt or killed in that explosion, what if someone other than Marcone happened to open the briefcase? At the time, they couldn't be so sure.

Pretty sure that's what made them laugh even harder.

Well, unless its meant to be a joke, as flawed as both characters may have been, especially Bruce Willis' character, they were STILL ultimately portrayed as good guy heroes, and they even risked to save the life of an incredibly flawed Senator (with whom Willis' character even had a particularly unpleasant history and beef), so if they were REALLY worried about bystanders being hurt and killed in that explosion, they wouldn't laugh. Maybe they at least could get the police to check on the area and report back to them for any other casualties, no?

And Willis' character at least once himself was worried that in ANOTHER potentially explosive scenario innocent bystanders could've been involved hence why he insisted for the time being to hide that bomb in a car trunk.
