The last line blew me

"Some fat girl from ohio becomes the new mozart, with a film she made using her fathers camera. Movie making as a professionalism will be lost- thats my opinion"

thats so cool

Yeah, he has a point, except I always replace "Mozart" with a film director (Godard, Antonioni, Bergman, Kitano, and so on). I know he wasn't saying Mozart was a film director, just a great musician, and the name could've been replaced with any other great artists, whatever their profession, but I think saying "Mozart" might obscure and distract the point a bit... oh well.

Still an interesting quote. And he's right, sorta, I dunno if anyone ever became as big as "mozart" with their daddy's camcorder, but certainly, video technology has done wonders (and, uh, "horrors", no pun intended)...

the reason why he used Mozart was because Mozart was considered genius in very early age.

It's the funniest line in the movie. He was completely wrong. Not only that he forgot that the fat artistic kid usually needs lots of money for her art (sets, actors, distribution), but in his optimism he completely disregarded what "everyone can make movies now" really means - that every hack out there can clutter the industry with his junk. Such an optimist. :)

reply

I think you've completely missed the point of that line.

reply

I agree, you've missed the point.

Actually he was right. Back in the old days movie making was a rare privilege reserved for talented artists in the studio system. Now with the advent of cheap digital cameras, everyone can do it and most of it is trash. The professionalism is gone.

One could even say that line pertains to Sofia Coppola lol I'm kidding, I like her.

Cue The Blair Witch Project.

...took the words right outta my mouth.

Well, he was correct but for the wrong reasons. There's a really cute Ohio girl who is making millions as a professional "eater" of junk food (a genre called "Mukbang" on social media) named Stephanie Pappas. She's cute 'n all but she's well on her way to getting fat.
