Where Is The Horror Here?

This film has been labelled an horror movie...

I just do not see the horror! Arthur is like any other flesh and blood person.

There are no spooks. No animals change shape. Where is the horror?

No bubbles from Arthur when he goes down... So what? This appears to be the only clue that he is no human. Is this the only clue?

First, it is rare to find someone else who has seen this movie! I saw it on first release in the theater when I was in college. I was the only one in the theater.

Horror can have a human antagonist. It doesn't have to be supernatural. Psycho is a horror film, for example.

That being said I would call this more of a Thriller than a Horror film, although I recall being really shocked and horrified in the sweat-lodge scene where Arthur cuts off his own finger as a sacrifice.

I have no problem stating Psycho is an horror film. Compare Psycho and Clearcut. In Psycho you feel the horror. And it builds up. In Clearcut you feel nothing. It is bland.

The blandness is probably due to the movie being a Canadian production. I say this as a Canadian by birth, myself. Our brand of entertainment is definitely not thrill-a-minute.
