Maleficent theory.

Is it possible that the enchantress was actually Maleficent in disguise? They share similar characteristics, like magic, power, and cursing people who offend them.

reply

No horns, dude.

Who ever was the enchantress obviously had the ability to completely alter her appearance. Her appearance seemed to be a reflection of what the victim valued the most. The prince valued physical beauty so the enchantress took that form. However, we don't know if that is the true form, we just know it is a form the shapeshifter took.

reply

True, we never see the actual enchantress, just an artist's rendering of the enchantress.

However, I still don't believe that the Enchantress and Maleficent are the same, Maleficent had a villain's lair to run and plans of conquest to further, how could she have had time to go out and troll the local nobility?

Could it be possible that the Prince (Beast) is Auora's grandparent and that would explain why the family fears Maleficent originally?

"B&tB" seems to take place several centuries after "SB", so we aren't talking a grandson, and who the hell knows how long magic-weilding Disney villainesses live. I'm not even going to guess.

Wrong M.O. The Enchantress wanted to teach the prince a lesson, because she knew there was a chance he'd become reformed from his punishment. Maleficent just plain wanted to torture an entire kingdom for fun, and had a serious ego about her when it came to human/fairy relations. Plus, I saw no demons or thorny vines anywhere.
