shareYes, he was a handsome SOB. Still is. He had just made the transition from TV to movies and was hot shit. However he had an ego the size of a beached whale and hard to work with. This forced him back into TV.
shareDirector Dennis Hopper originally had Mickey Rourke in mind for the part. In an interview Hopper said Don wasn't that bad to work with, although he found his constant entourage of at least five people curious. He said he brought to the set a cook, a trainer, a helicopter pilot (yes, he arrived daily in a helicopter), two drivers, a secretary, his own hair person, his own makeup person and his own wardrobe person.
