I'm usually the one to ask "how is this not horror?"

But this time I'm asking how is this horror? Sure some scenes kinda had a horror atmosphere, but not enough to make this a horror movie imo.

CG GORE IS THE WORST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED TO THE HORROR GENRE!

It has elements of horror but it's Science-Fiction, Drama.

I would categorize it as a SUPERNATURAL THRILLER. However, as creepy and scary as some scenes are there is good morality in it, with characters atoning for their sins and finding redemption and in the end they are all alive and become better people. Not horror at all though the closest thing to horror is that creepy little kid who kept attacking Kefir Southerland.

I wish we could have more movies like this nowadays and less "horror" which is cookie cutter generic and not scary anymore.

Was it horror..?

It’s not a genre film, it dips into sci-fi, drama and horror but its focus is the story and message.

If video stores still existed and I owned one I’d put it in the sci-fi section.

I think it’s horror in that if you cheat death you will end up paying for it for the rest of your life..kind of like an early Final Destination.

Mmm. That’s not really the message - it’s that everything you do matters and if you have unfinished business with other people then you’ll be forced to address it in this life or the next.

The Flatliners ‘crossed over’ for a few minutes and their unfinished business followed them back into the real world.
