How come nobody got angered over Jim beating up Edward right after the parents take Kevin inside?

Right after the scene where Bill & Peg were taking Kevin inside after Edward accidentally slices Kevin after rescuing him from getting run over by Denny how come nobody got angered over Jim assaulting Edward?

Couldn't they sense on what an a-hole Jim was in that scene, it's really sad the neighbors were okay with Jim assaulting Edward.
