A underrated film

One of Alan Parker's more undervalued films. Based on a important subject too about American-Japanese been Forced into prison Camps during World War II. I'm a big fan of Dennis Quaid so it's great to see him, although I didn't buy him been Irish at all (nowadays they could have cast Colin Farrell or Michael Fassbender for that part) and I thought Tamlyn Tomita was perfect in the role, besides this and Joy Luck Club. She didn't really go on to become a big star.

I think the film is at it's strongest during the Prison camp section which is given only 30 minutes at most during the 2hr 20min running time. Far too much time was given over to the Tomita and Quaid romance, which is a shame. But overall a lot better then 6.7 rating on IMDB.

Until I saw this appearing on Trending, I'd forgotten about this little gem of a film. Saw it a long time ago and it stayed with me.

It definitely deserves higher than a 6.7 rating. It's a quiet film. They don't go over big with the type of people who are IMDb voters.
