What's Your Funniest Scene?

What's your most funniest scene in this movie? Mine is when he is arguing with a car dealer and in the end gets his way to a sports car and he doesnt even get out as far as the main road and gets hit by another car LOL

Me and my mum were watching it on TV one saturday morning and really laughed at that scene lol, it's a nice memory :)

When Crumb is shaking his pants dry after being wet by the sprinkler. "Do you mind taking your free hand off the doorbell"

reply

LOL, Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that one!

I have two VERY funny scenes that score a tie with me.

The first is Harry Crumb's bout with hanging onto a ceiling fan, as it goes faster and faster.

The second is Harry Crumb's impersonation of an Indian air conditioning repareman to an apartment building manager played by SCTV alumni Joe Flatery.

The used car lot scene, the celing fan scene, the air vent scene, and where he says to Mrs. MacIntyre: "Says you!" LOL...

The scene where he goes through the metal detector and it keeps bleeping. He gets down to his underwear before realising that the trigger is a "Metal plate" in his head. The reaction from the waiting passengers is hilarious. First groans at the delay then sympathy when Harry explains his Accident.

Not seen this for years so its from memory, but I desperately need to watch this film again SOON.

When he comes crashing trough the window, lands in the chair and answers the phone:"Harry Crumb...it's for you"

Crumb slapping his hands down on the table covered with fish hooks. Ouch.

When he is Djour Djilios, and he leans over the girls body - and his fake chest hair falls out ... and he quickly picks it up.. and throws it on his face so it becomes a beard ... "your eyes are playing tricks on me"

classic moment...

Ditto, desi_mcphillips (previous post). I also like the fish hooks scene and also when he throws a bullseye on the dart board and it falls and breaks the glass case - after that he says, "good day to you Sir" - hilarious! Actually that entire scene is great as P.J. says to Harry something like "yes, Elliot Draisen said you were a smart man" and Harry replies "Ah yes, well he sounds like a very smart man, I'd like to meet him someday" and P.J. says "Didn't he send you here?" and Harry closes with "Exactly".

Another good one is when Harry is in the horse jockey phone booth and Elliot calls him and says in a foreign voice "Crumb, give the money to Draisen" and Harry says "what" and Elliot repeats himself slower and louder and Harry still doesn't understand him. Finally Elliot ssays it again in his normal voice so Harry understands him.

I like the scene where the guy gets the quarter from the ventilation duct and he hears more noises and he thinks he's going to get more money. Then he says, "Jackpot!" and Harry plows right into him. I had to rewind that scene tons of times. LOL

reply

I'm glad I came to this message board. That scene made me laughed so damn hard the first time I saw it, I nearly pi**ed myself. Still does.

John Candy was a great comedic actor. I miss him.

Haha! I like when the receptionist asks the character Djour Djilios to spell his name, and he arrogantly responds, "I don't think so, try it with a "D". LOL!!

Also, in the scene where his fake chest hair falls off, he looks up directly into the camera with that "uh-oh" face. That always cracks me up.

I love the foot scene and when the camera pans away you realize the table is like 3 meters wide and there is no way their feet could even touch each other lol.

Also the part when Harry gets bitten by the piranha and flings it and it sticks perfectly to the picture of the rich guy holding the fish. I almost peed.

The funniest scene is the car lot (starting at 0:12:08). The crash was perfectly timed for maximum hilarity! The transition to him driving the Caddy is so smooth and casual.
The funniest head scratcher scene (it starts at around 0:45:14) is when PJ is taking the Auburn out for a spin. Harry and Nikki happen to catch him before PJ leaves. The scene cuts to the villians then cuts back to ... Harry and Nikki DRIVING the white car! We are not given so much as a whisper as to WHY PJ suddenly let THEM take his $1,000,000+ car. ha ha ha !!!!
Oh also - I'm in love with Annie Potts.

reply

how about when he's throwing the darts at PJ's dart board and it falls off lol

reply

How about the part when Harry completely, but accidently destroys Elliott's office? Ya know when he wreck's the bike through the office wall? (-:

reply

I like the scene where he is fanning through bundles of money going "All there", "All there", then goes "One short". Of course they have to count it out to see that he is right. Just the absurdity of the situation just cracks me up.

reply

Or how about the barking and growling fish, or when Harry is sucked through the airconditioning shafts?

reply

How about when he thinks the other guy was elliot drasen and jeffrey jones tells harry he is elliot. Harry is like master of disguises eh? your good very good

reply

The diseased tree with the fruits falling off it in Harry's office at the beginning... He's talking to the client and trying to be professional however fruit keeps falling off and interrupting his conversation. Made him look like a low grade detective.

reply

"That little....falacy! Woooooooh!"

"They're discussing my prowess as a private dick."

The look on Draisen's face in the snapshots.

And just something about Jim Belushi's annoyance at being offered a "cherry Coke".

I like it when Harry says "bamboo is my business"!

and in his office with the woman who paid him to take photos of her husband, when he calls her husband a "philadendrum" instead of a "philanderer" and then says to her, "it was YOU who were having an affair with your husband all along!"

PRICELESS!!

Yeah, like who would have a fruit tree in an office anyway?
