He was able to do it the same way they were. They were able to shapeshift to the point of almost being amorphous so all it took was a little effort. Also, when Ferguson was inside-out, he was basically empty.

It does explain what they are. Dr. Cleveland tells Bill he is not really related to his family and his family and their high-society friends are actually a different species.
Why do you need every little thing spelled out for you? In Halloween they never explain why Michael Myers body disappears after he is shot by Dr. Loomis. share
He didn’t “shunt” him. He just took advantage of Ferguson’s morphing state and reached up into him and pulled him inside out.

One of the most underrated movies in history IMO. I thought that what they really were must stay in the spectator imagination. There are clues that they were closer to demons, i mean, they were different of human beings. They feed from people, and they were cultists. In fact i always thought that they were satanists. Here in Brazil the name of the movie is "The Society of the friends of the devil".
