Little things in the movie that make you laugh?

1. The way the fat bouncer begins to leap over the bar (?!) after yelling "Jesus Christ!"
2. The way the waitress leads Jeff Healey out after Wade Garrett shows up. He can't see the aftermath off the fight, and he can't contribute in any other way to say: "Gentlemen, Wade Garrett!"
3. Brad Wesley randomly three-wheeling on his lawn.
4. "Dig a hole."

reply

I love all the previous contributions, and so many I would repeat as moments of great hilarity.

One thing I love is how all of Dr. Clay's clothes look like tablecloths. Cracks me up.

And here is one that makes me laugh at myself--It took me years to figure out that Wade was calling Dalton "amijo." I thought he was saying "Meathole!"

reply

Actually, Wade is calling Dalton, "mijo". It is a term of endearment...

A contraction of "mi hijo" or "my son".

reply

I shudder to think what a 'meathole' might be.

reply

Cautery--Thank you! I speak some Spanish, so I had been thinking "amijo" was Wade's version of "amigo." (I thought there might be a regional variation for how it was pronounced.) "Mi hijo" makes MUCH more sense!

And Drooch, frankly, I thought "meathole" was Wade's way of calling him a pussy, lol. Crude, but I thought that would be in keeping with Wade's style.

That is Gold

I thought it was meathole for years too 

reply

"Be nice until it's time to not be nice".

The entire movie made me laugh.

Road House: 80s cheese at it's finest!

I've never seen this whole movie until tonight, and I think it's hilarious. The shattering glass every other scene, no big deal. And the way Mr. Swayze keeps his face blank and lips together - as if sewn together - no matter WHAT happens in front of him. Wooden performance, I believe is the word, No doubt copying from the strong silent type douches in films long before he was born, lol!

reply

What made me laugh?

The film supposed takes place in a small town in Missouri. There is one scene in it where you see palm trees, a desert, and some mountains. The only palm trees you'll find in Missouri are in greenhouses.

Just got done viewing "Road House" for roughly the 183rd time this evening.

Something I never picked-up on in the scene at Dalton's love shack when Dr. Clay enters and Dalton asks her "It's a little late for a house call, isn't it, doc?: did Dalton and Dr. Clay mysteriously switch pants just prior to that exchange? Dalton's pants might as well have been airbrushed on. The only characters in the movie that should be wearing pants even remotely that tight would've been either the aforementioned Dr. Clay. Or Denise.

Good Lord those sweats were disturbingly tight on Dalton. The movie must have been short on money, they had little in wardrobe, and Swayze thus ended-up with a pair of women's XXXXXXXXXS hand-me-downs.

When the sleezy bouncer says 'What if they call ma momma a whore?', Dalton replies 'Is she?', the guy's reaction is priceless - he angrily throws his toothpick to the floor. Dalton flummoxed him with a 'smart bullet' thanks to his philosophy skills.

The whole concept of 'zen' Dalton being surrounded by boozy, aggressive yokels who he 'teaches' is hilarious.

"Right boot."

"Got it."

What made me laugh?

...The fact that both the good guys and the bad guys each have a 400 lb. dude on each of their sides...

...right before the the stuffed polar bear falls on the bad guy fatty, he sputters like Lou Costello and just stands there.

reply

Tinker and the polar bear were made for each other!

I love the awful line delivery when Pat the bartender is trying to get his job back and he says, "You see I'm staying, and YOU'RE going!" John Doe got a bit better as an actor later on (loved him in Roadside Prophets) but that part always makes me laugh.
