How much could he get?

Just asking how much could Selleck's character possibly see in a lawsuit against the police for wrongful imprisonment? He was framed by the police.

I posed a similar question years ago here!!! Normally a wrongfully imprisoned person does not get much if any restitution but the level of corruption was so extreme here with corrupt cops framing him and continuing to harass and blackmail him and his wife even after he got out.

If this had really happened it would have been a media storm and a movie probably would have been made about it (A movie within a movie) but of course the movie would have been based on a true story.

I think a more fun ending would have been him being awarded a restitution package of several million dollars from the state and there is a scene of him and his wife making love in a beautiful beach house in Tahiti or something now that they are multimillionaires, and do a back and forth scene where you see a few seconds of the corrupt A hole cop getting brutally gang raped in prison then a scene of Rainwood making love to his beautiful wife in the bed then flash back to the scene of the corrupt cop getting gang raped.

Then have a scene where Rainwood and his wife walk out onto the beach to enjoy a beautiful sunset then flash to the cop guy lying on the floor of the prison cell with blood coming out of his anal area and obviously in horrible pain.

I would have loved an ending like that!!!

Would have been a nice ending but the fact is they don't put cops in with the gen pop.
