What if the Ghostbusters had crossed the streams in Ghostbusters II?

I'm not so confident crossing the streams would have gotten the slime off. Also the reason they did not cross the streams is that it's mentioned at the beginning they were sued by all the state, county, and city agencies in New York for crossing the streams at the end of the first movie. Since it blew up a big portion of the apartment building.
