Seriously love this movie

I saw it pop up in trending and had to jump in -- Yes, it's an absolute classic. It still manages to come up in conversation or in my memory regularly, even though the last time I saw it was probably over 20 years ago. Need to watch it again.

You know it's tragic what happened to Tom Hanks. 'Light comedy', the ability to make people laugh without swearing or being cynical or outrageous is probably the single hardest thing to pull off on screen and Tom Hanks was a master of it. Then he won the Oscars and what has he done since? Sulk. That's all he does in every single film since 1995. Sulk, squint and channel a kind of supernatural dullness.

Such a shame.

But yes, a great film from a bygone era. Dante's 80s movies lived in a perfectly pitched world that was funny, scary, not too serious but not self congratulatory either. Tremors was probably the last film that managed to capture the same spirit.
