Did anyone see this show when it was first run?

I vaguely remember looking forward to the Friday shows more because I really liked Zelda. But I'm not sure if I was watching its original run in late 1989 or just the reruns later. Did they run the monday shows on monday and so forth whenever it was re-aired?

I was sorta lucky. I didn't have cable (I live in Canada, so NBC is cable for me), but my grandparents did.

They'd tape the show every morning. I'd go to their place for weekends and watch all five episodes in a row (while putting the stickers they'd bought me that afternoon into the official "Mario Bros. Collectible Sticker Book," at that).

God, life ruled when I was nine.

I remember watching them when I was 5 or 6. So, it had been running for some 7 years. That's not quite "first run", but I saw it way back when.

"Were they sent to Hell?"
"Worse. Wisconsin. For the entire span of human history. "

I wish I got to see it when it ran. I was unfortunately a fetus at the time. >.<

19 years ago this show was (still is) the "BOMB"! I loved this show. Every episode was awesome. Like everyone else I couldn't wait til' Friday came along just to watch The Legend of Zelda. Also on Saturday morinings Captain N. But still Super Mario Bros. Super Show is better than Super Mario Bros. 3 & Super Mario World cartoons.

this show was ran on saturday mornings very early back when it was first on here in West Virginia

I watched it, this was one of my favorite shows back then.
It got even better when Super Mario 3 Cartoon came out and Captain N. I think I watched them both on the Family Channel, although I do remember seeing Super Mario Super Show briefly run on Fox.
I remember Legend of Zelda being aired on WGN.

Then by 1992 all of those cartoons just disappeared.

Here in Chile the series was aired in 1992 IIRC, right in the middle of the "Nintendo Boom" (The NES was first available here in 1990/91), and only on saturday mornings. TVN (the station that aired the series) ran the episodes randomly, and I missed almost every Zelda episode (I only could catch ONE, and can't even remember the plot ) but I loved the series. As a funny note, I didn't know Lou Albano was a wrestler (the then-WWF wasn't aired regularly as it is now) until that episode when Lou was reported missing and Cindy Lauper came to ask the Mario Bros. for help.

I remember watching it as a kid, and I remember that later on they replaced Mario & Luigi with a pair of obnoxious "cool guys" during the host segments, which was a huge disappointment.

Was 9 when this came out. I remember hurrying to get home to watch.

I watched it during it's initial run. Religiously. This show was part of a 1 hour block of Mario related entertainment. First it was the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, and then it was King Koopa's Kool Kartoons. Some guy dressed in a lame King Koopa costume hosted a live show in which he would give away Mattel Power Gloves and bad mouth Mario. Also, they would show rather OLD cartoons from what seemed to be the 30's and 40's.

I watched it when I was 6/7 and it first aired. I thought it was GREAT then. I actually hated the Zelda episodes at the time, because I was such a huge Mario fan and could give a rip about Zelda and Link.

Fast-forward 20 years later, and my thoughts have changed. The Mario show wasn't really that good. Basically it was a cartoon that just happen to feature Mario characters - not an actual Mario cartoon. But the Zelda cartoon was actually quite good and better than it's been given credit for.

I watched this during it's original run. I watched it every day after school, don't remember what time it was on or what came before/after. But I watched it every day, always looking forward to Zelda Friday. I was SO PISSED when it turned into "Club Mario"...
