The scariest scenes that wasn't part of a treehouse of horror

The ending of The Day the Violence Died.
Mr Burns alien form.
The tall man that bullies Nelson in 22 Short Films About Springfield.
Flanders acting like a murderer in Bart of Darkness.
Homer finding a corpse as a child.

Also Maggie in Who Shot Mr Burns creeps me out a little after the case is solved because of how they leave it open for interpretation if she really meant for him to be shot or not.

Good list. Would definitely be interested in seeing what others could contribute

Seriously no mention of "Cape Feare"? Sideshow Bob is threatening & stalking a truly terrified Bart through entire episode and finally outright tries to murder him. Lots of "scary" scenes in that episode alone.

The trippy insanity pepper episode where Homer is hallucinating was somewhat creepy to me back in the day.

Also the episode Lisa's Rival. Lisa plans to sabatoge her rival's model based on the Edgar Allen Poe story "The Tell-Tale Heart" and ends up having a mental freakout similar to the character from the story. Pretty creepy.

The entire Frank Grimes episode is black comedy culminating with him going crazy and killing himself.

Bart Sell's His Soul. Again pretty creepy episode throughout. Creepy moment that stood out was Bart creepily trying to coax Ralph Wiggam into selling his soul to him only to freak Ralph out, with Barts eyes suddenly appear lizard like as he hisses and scurries away.

I'm sure there are plenty more I just can't think of right now.

Cape Fear is a fantastic episode but not too scary i think. You already know Bart isn't really gonna be killed and Sideshow is still a humorous character, i'll admit when Homer comes in with the hockey mask and goes "BARTDOYOUWANTTOSEEMYNEWCHAINSAW!" was scary though XD

Well if we're going to really break it down to being truly scary I would say none of the Treehouse of Horror Specials were ever particularly scary as much as they were Halloween "horror" themed comedy. I never found them remotely scary as a kid.

None of the episodes are truly scary IMO but episodes like Cape Feare are interesting for having fairly dark themes for a regular episode.
