Could this be a LIVE television programme?

Obviously a show like this is a terrible prospect. But could it be a live show, not in terms of the violence, but in terms of advertising?

Ad breaks are becoming longer and longer. Live sports games have ads, but those are run during half-time and whatnot. And live shows are structured in a way to allow ad breaks.

With this type of "show", you can't really stop a fight to the death, bacause the scheduled 10:30 ad break is coming up. Would there be an increased amount of product placement? Would the suits of the "contestants" be covered with company logos, like we see in sports? And would an advertiser put their logo on a criminal's suit?

well they had a few "contestants" , maybe theyd put them in in series ,not in parallel like they did in the film, with the ads in between.
Or maybe they could actually pause the fight - tell the gladiator to stop the hunt or "fall back"
Or maybe if anything interesting happened during the ads replay it - like timeslip function on your tv box

Gladiators & American Gladiators from the 90's took inspiration from the Running Man.

Not live, which is the challenge
