did they accomplish anything at all by going to Earth?

Please help me try to figure this out if you know. It seems like if you cut out almost the entire movie from the time they leave Eternia to the time they get back, the outcome for He-Man and Skeletor would be just about the same. No?

I don't remember noticing that when I watched the movie as a kid, but now it's kind of bugging me.

They didn't go to Earth by choice, they ended up there by chance. Gwildor was pressing the buttons on the key at random, because he had to make a hasty escape for He-Man and his friends to get away from Skeletor and his forces. Earth just happened to be brief refuge.

I think Skeletor needs the second key to rule greyskull (or they need to destroy it). The second key gets teleported to earth along with He Man & co, and thus the bad dudes have to go after it and retrieve it. Julie and Kevin help the good guys get back to greyskull, and Julie's parents get saved in the process (altering her life). So I guess some things came from going to earth.

And you can deal with me; Doug Masters!

Have you really watched the movie or did it completely fly over your head that they got to earth by accident?

reply

They saved the production money. :-)

reply

Kinda would end up the same.

Earth was only employed as a location to keep production costs down which made He-Man and Co look tacky against a everyday background.
