if they did it now, it'd probably be Michael Cera.

no NO...NO ! Lydia must be EVER Meg Ryan... despite her age and several surgeries but would be ''nothing bad'' if she turn back to play even after 50`aged '54 until'56.. She currently has already left the surgeries, only just redo the hairstyle, a good dose of makeup and ready ... Meg Ryan may be Lydia Again She still have little body-mignom girlie! and I give any certainty: The Meg´s sparkling blue eyes yet not faded, her legs are still impeccably shapely. and has not lost those charms of sweetheart. Yes! Meg Ryan may be go back Lydia and wear leather miniskirt.

I suggest this movie to be shot for 2016 That marks the 30th anniversary of the classic SCI-FI Joe Dante..... and for Meg Ryan´s 55th anniversary.

if they want to put the Dennis Quaid as Tucker again or redo part of the cast I thank because some of them have already passed away ... but does not Meg Ryan replaces.

Redo tried, Harry & Sally 2 putting Hellen Mirren was a DISASTER a Miscast!
Billy Crystal *beep* up his career and the Classic Romantic Comedy

How about no, just watch the original, it's a perfectly good movie.

Yes. A Remake would be inferior anyway.

Good picks JohnMatrix.

The only one I'd be inclined to change is 'Jack Putter'. I'd cast Charlie Day in that part, and maybe Amy Poehler as 'Wendy'.

reply

I had a hard time finding a suitable actor for Jack Putter role. Martin Short was so good that I simply can’t think of anybody else coming close to his performace. I was looking for someone also small in statue. Sorry, I’m not a fan of Charlie Day, but an interesting choice. How about Jack Black or Seth Green instead? And Melissa McCarthy as Wendy. )))

reply

I picked Charlie Day because it was in keeping with the casting of Martin Short (i.e. a short skinny shambolic type). Elijah Wood could pull some of those elements off but he seems more of a straight type, rather than a complete goofball. Michael Cera is another possibility.

Also Melissa McCarthy is cool and I could see her playing up Wendy's overbearing and eager traits, but Wendy was conventionally pretty. It was her personality that was grating, and so it would make sense to cast another reasonably pretty comedic actor who can nevertheless play someone who is annoying and flaky.

Dennis Quaid was great, and nobody today could come anywhere close to being as good as Martin Short. There is no point in recasting it. Jesse Eisenberg? Are you trying to induce vomiting?
