I pick Secret Admirer. Secret Admirer have a better cast, I really don't like Patrick Dempsey but Amanda Peterson was nice but not as nice as Lori Loughlin. I also love the music in Secret Admirer and it have some nudity and a better ending Imo.

shareI was actually just going to rant about how can you believe neither one has gotten a blu-ray release yet (nor Pretty in Pink nor Some Kind of Wonderful, honestly what the heck are the studios thinking when all these classics get nothing but DVD or poor quality digital download/streaming releases and yet stuff people have never heard of like Crocodile Hunter From Planet X get special edition blu-rays (made that up, but you get the picture)) but then I just noticed on Amazon while typing this that Secret Admirer actually just came out on blu-ray finally this Wednesday! At least that is one down now. Or two down as The Blob '88 finally came out last year.
Oh wow No Way Out finally got a proper home release too! I guess they finally caught up with a bunch this Wednesday! The only other hard format release for this one before had been non-anamorphic and P&S DVD!
CBML.
shareCan't Buy Me Love! It had the better story and much better characters and when the credits rolled with The Beatles song playing, I just felt really good, like you really got something from it. The lead actors in CBML, Patrick Dempsey and Amanda Peterson, were actually a really convincing young couple - they made the movie. Nothing of that standard is seen in Secret Admirer, which had far too many unbelievable coincidences in its plot to be a good film, it just was far too gimmicky and contrived.
The score & cinematography for this movie is also really underrated. The whole film is.
Death by stereo
I've seen both many, many times. Secret Admirer is a much better overall film I believe, but if you are young, CBML is a proper high school movie that is a bit more accurate, at least it was. SA feels more like a completely different crowd, more like early college kids... They both portray high school, but really SA the kids seem much older because they were.
