I am surprised the feminist did not complain

I’m talking about when Gil playfully whipped his pal on the rear with his horse whip. Did Gil do that in the book, or was that Kevin’s idea? Even if the scene was in the book, that was a different era versus the late 80’s when Anne 2 came out. I wonder if the studio got any letters from irate female fans?

I doubt they got any letters. I think most viewers saw it for what it was, Gil being playful with Anne. He certainly didn't mean anything bad by it because he never stopped loving her.

It's only been in the last 15 years or so that people have gotten so butt hurt that they go out of their way looking for things to be offended by. It's gotten downright ridiculous how sensitive people are these days.

I know your post was six years ago, but today we don't just assume someone is "people" just because zjey were assigned that designation at birth. Zjey must make it clear that zjey identify that way before you call them that. You need to educate yourself and stop being so offensive.

I always wondered if that was in the book. I read a few of the Anne novels a few years ago. Being apart of the generation that this version was released, it will always have a special place in my memory. I was surprised he hit her with the whip , but not offended. Although I do think Anne should have been harsher, that was rude of Gil.
