Leach scene metaphor

The leach scene is a metaphor for coming of age. There is blood in between Gordie’s legs because of the leach, like a girl having their first period. A boy can’t have a period so we get this representing Gordie is coming of age. This hit me watching it recently.

Of course, it's obvious. And the train coming at them is a metaphor for life coming at you and there's no way to escape it. Unless you jump away from it at the last moment.

No. Not everything is a methaphor...
