I actually enjoyed this a lot, and it kind of holds a special place in my heart, as I took my niece to this when it came out (she was about 10), and she got very, very emotional at the end. I had to take her out for some icecream for consoling. It is rather silly, but the effort was ernest, and I still enjoy watching it every now and then.

Nevertheless, it introduced me as a child to the King Kong character and is probably the only reason I eventually saw the far superior orignal movie.
This film will always have some sentimental value for me because of that.
I like this movie. I think it's okay. Not "GREAT", but a fine little flick. And it's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY better than that lousy *beep* remake by Peter Jackson!!!! Now, there's a movie that sucks!!!

I liked this move! I liked it cause its action packed! Not like last years re make were it takes about an hour to get any action happening and just sucks!
shareI LOVED it, pure 80s movie magic. The special effects were decent enough and it was rarely boring. The hunters were pretty funny and their deaths were great. This film was pretty brutal for a PG-13 film, 1 hunter got torn right in half, another had Kong bite his head off and you saw him gulp it right done. The end featured Kong getting shot up worse than a character in a HK John Woo movie. I enjoyed Kong's alligator feast and who wouldn't cry after watching Kong pass away right after holding his newborn son?
