is this movie cry-worthy ?

heard some people cried/wept over this movie
is this movie that touching enough?

This is the strangest film for me. I love basketball. I think Gene Hackman is great. A story of an underdog basketball team winning should be perfect for me. And yet I didn't really care for this film that much. I liked the film One on One much more.

The scene between Shooter and his son Everett gets me. It comes before the team leaves for the state championship, and the pain in Shooter's eyes is what sells the scene for me. He was on a roll with his job as assistant and being a decent father, but then messed it all up by falling off the wagon again and almost killing himself. When he says "Son...oh I wish I could be there", it's a heartbreaker. Then Everett says, "I'll be thinking of you." This was a great exchange between father and son characters.

I didn't cry but the scene where Everett tells his father he loves him is very touching.
