I think this was probably the first film i saw where the 4th wall was broken, i certainly cant remember this before, ofc nowadays its been done many times but back in 1986 was this something new for me.
I did see it in Blazing Saddles but although that was filmed much earlier i didn't actually see that film till the early 90's so for me FBDO was my first experience of it.
So whats the film you first saw the 4th wall being broken?
I remember seeing this when I was in 8th grade and thinking that it was cool he quoting John Lennon to me.
I don’t know about the first movie I saw that broke the 4th wall, but Saved By the Bell was probably the first TV show I saw that did so.
I have seen it in films from the 40's like "The Egg and Me" the term itself comes from the Ancient Greeks who saw the space between the audience and the stage as a "4th wall".
