Has Rocky ever blocked or evaded a punch?

This dude took everything to the face. A boxer with such horrible defense would have been killed in the ring a long time ago

Yeah, in Rocky III. The Rocky from the Lang rematch who turned into a fleet footed boxer-puncher with defense and head movement. He had to revert back to his brawler-slugger ways for IV because Drago was an extremely accomplished amaeteur gold medalist who had excellent boxing skills, fought tall as a heavyweight, great jab, great combination punching and excellent power with some movement when he needed it. Rocky was completely outgunned in the boxing dept. for this one. If he didn't have that iron chin, heart and will, he would have been joining Apollo.

reply

Well, he blocked all of Paulie's punches.

Doesn't Butterbean use a very similar fighting approach? Some guys are just born with a one in 10,000 anvil head

"what is your major malfunction numbnuts?!!"

reply

I'm sure he blocked most of Adrian's punches.

reply

Rocky and Homer Simpson share the same boxing technique.

He attempted to block in the Lang rematch but by and large, the rocky films are laughable when it comes to boxing.

reply

Never, in fact if you watch some of the fights in slo-mo he assists his opponents by moving his sorry face into the path of some wild aimless swings.

Perhaps he's hoping that one day his face will be, by some slip of chance, punched into a handsome or even just a normal shape.

...then whoa, differences...

reply

And this is the man Apollo Creed's son puts faith in?

reply

Since Rocky's skull was made of Adamantium he didn't worry about getting hit.

reply

This is silly. He's blocked and dodged plenty of punches. The 3rd and 4th have just more punches landing in general but he slips and blocks plenty over the coarse of his career. Also please keep in mind you are only watching the highlights. It's not like your watching every second of a 15 round fight. You are getting snippets and pieces of the action. It's not like every round in the fight is just like the 15th.

One particularly forceful Dolph Lundgren punch to Sylvester Stallone's chest slammed his heart against his breastbone, causing the heart to swell. Stallone suffered from labored breathing and a blood pressure over 200 and was flown from the set into intensive care for eight days.

I heard that Stallone asked Lundgren to punch him with all he had. If that is true then Sly is nuts.

reply

Well, his trainer (old guy I forgot his name) in number III told him the first fight with Apollo should have killed him, but it didn't. That's why all his fights were hand picked.
Makes sense from this standpoint.
