Prizzi was horrible. I love Jack Nickolson but man.... this man stalled the whole time It was absolutely one of the worst movies I've seen. I not joking either.

I don't mean to offend anyone. It strucly a personal opinion.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith was entertaining but it is a fun film. Not great but worth a watch.

Hrm I think people almost always prefer the old movie for some reason. I'm watching Prizzi's Honor right now and i don't like it. The acting between Jack and the woman is so fake, his accent is annoying and I haven't laughed one time yet, while I found Mr. & Mrs. Smith quite funny. I don't get why people call it trash, Brad and Angelina are always nice to look at in my opinion :D

Tata.

Even if I had not seen Prizzi's Honor, I would have to tell you to NOT to watch Mr. and Mrs. Smith. It was garbage, I'll never get back those 2 hours of my life.

But yea, I really enjoyed Prizzi's Honor. I dig black comedy.

prizzi's it s a dark comedy

mr smith it s a romantic comedy.

There's no comparison. When you're doing a story as outlandish as a husband and wife who are both hitters hired to kill each other, you have to at least try to ground the script and it's characters in reality, even when you're doing an usual black comedy like "Prizzi's Honor."

The problem with "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," like most of Angelina's action films, is that it's too cartoony...and the fact that it's an action film. I like the fact that Kathleen Turner plays Irene, (as it Ebert put it), like a "cheery hostess." To me that's what makes Irene all the more lethal, because you're never quite sure if she can be trusted. Even as she acknowledges her profession with detatchment and no remorse, she's likeable and believeable. She doesn't have to try to be sexy like Jolie, because Turner JUST IS...or WAS.

With "Smith," Jolie is a sexy Victoria's Secret model-cum-hitman. You get the pouty lips, the lustful looks, her perfect body, and Turner is STILL a 100x sexier.

"Prizzi" is about the characters and the dangerous situations they find themselves in. "Smith" is a series of slick, action set pieces. You know the outcome, and you know they'll end up together, making "Prizzi's" dark, mirthless ending all the more novel. That's the difference.

It might be necromancy..
yet this quote is hilariously on the point.

Prizzi's is classier and more realistic
Mr & Mrs Smith is more about the actors playing (bradgelina) than than the story and characters
My vote will definitely go to Prizzi's Honor

Prizzi is much better. It has more depth, the characters are more developed, there is more mystery, more dialogue, the actors have more to work with, the movie is also longer. Prizzi is a comedy, I admit, but its a heavy and complex one, it's an Award winning movie 4 god's sake. On the other hand Smith is a run-of-the mill Hugh Grant type of light comedy, we get those 3 or 4 like these per year, it will never get an oscar to any main actor, it doesn't require anything other than good looks... Well I have seen enough light comedies lately, I dont need any other, but they still keep making them, even at a slower rate. If anything, I watch heavier, more complex dark humor comedies like Snatch or Woody Allen's movies. The jokes are harder to understand at Prizzi, as the actors play very serious roles, and take themselves vary seriously, they don't seem like cartoons. Also the acting is very demanding, the main characters are involved in long dialogues, they dont just start shooting. Prizzi is a work of art, Mrs. and Mr.Smith is just commercial mass-produced comedy.

I liked Prizzi's Honor for the most part but Nicholson's performance was weak and despite his chemistry with Turner, he is repulsive (and almost always has been) to consider in a romantic and/or sexual role. Not so for Brad Pitt! One could counter by saying that Nicholson is the better actor and I'd agree, but not in THIS film. He is out of place, and his accent is unbelievable, as someone pointed out.

Others compared the sexiness of Turner and Jolie and I have a hard time deciding, but Jolie doesn't seem to have to work at it as hard. Whenever I watch Kathleen I think of the overdone Jessica Rabbit, throwing her curves around and making lewd suggestions with her deep, husky voice. Come ON!

But that's not finally the point; though both films seem the same, they are miles apart. I feel that Prizzi's is darker, more about juggling relationships with family, with a heavy dose of morality, while Mr & Mrs Smith is, as others pointed out, a romantic comedy and action film. Best car chase ever! Paul Greengrass, of the Bourne series, knocks it out of the park, as always. Anyone who is expecting deep meaning from this film, in which two married assassins somehow escape a massive death squad with a few bruises and scrapes, is bound to be let down.

They openly joke about the film's premise at the end, when responding to their couple's therapist, Jane mentioning that they "redid" the house (it was blown up!) and John telling him that they had sex ten times that week. It's a lark, a laugh and a damned good one. I would never compare these two films...but M&MS left me much lighter in heart than the equally implausible Prizzi's. I hate it when films depress me!

I followed all the rules...and you followed none of them. And they all loved you more.

Prizzi's Honor's a great film! William Hickey as the creepy old don is fantastic. Now what's this other movie you're talking about?
