I just finished watching Stacey(1973) also by Andy Sidaris which I think was his first movie. Can't help but notice a lot of the plot elements and scenes are very similar to Malibu Express'.

Andy didn’t exactly have a BIG imagination.
He created “the Honey shot” when he was at ABC Sports. That’s all the imagination a man needs.
You're correct. In the audio commentary for "Malibu Express", Andy says that he took his script for "Stacey" and re-wrote it changing the lead character to a man. Obviously some other changes as well, but he went into ME starting from his script for "Stacey".
