Worst performance ever by an actress

Martha Gerhman gives what has to be the single worst acting? performance in FX. A very entertaining movie but why is she in this?

Martha Gerhman was truly dreadful in this film, but she has to take a back seat to Lindsay Crouse in Desperate Hours 1990. She was so bad I could hardly believe it.

And of course Melanie Griffith in anything is first runner up.

You really do have to wonder how people like this get the job.

I guess it's like looking at clouds. You see one thing and I see another. Peace.

Yeah, she was bad, but somehow I still enjoyed her. I suppose it was a pretty fun character. I think the good dialogue trumped the bad delivery. And actually, there was some good chemistry between her and Rollie.

For all this film's flaws, I actually don't have a problem with the acting... Because now that I think about it, a lot of the supporting cast really sucked, too. It wasn't something that decreased my enjoyment of the movie, though.

Oh my that was the worst I can ever remember.
I thought there must be some inside joke or something.
That was worse than tv bad.
No wonder there's no info on her as an actress. She's too embarrassed.

Now I'm not saying I'm slow on the up-take, but this thread is now into it's 8th year and I'm joining in!

I just watched this again last night (throughly love the film) and I think for the first time ever I thought that the acting from her wasn't that great, especially in the scene when she was begging him to not open the booby trapped box in the van.

Maybe I had noticed in the past but I've just always enjoyed the film so much that her acting passed me by but last night it really grabbed me. I can't even think how many times I've watched this as it was the third VHS tape I bought in 1988 after I got my first player for Xmas 87.

Her acting certainly doesn't spoil anything for me but it did stand out.

On another matter, I did wonder why Lou Gossett Jnr didn't have F/X listed in his IMDB credits!!! To further smack me around the face with a wet kipper, it was actually Gordon out of Seasame Street and not Lou!!!! I really need to get with the times .....

I agree that her acting was pretty bad and she probably gave the worst performance in this film, but worst performance ever? Come on. You obviously haven't seen a lot of films if you think this is the worst ever.

I can't say I paid much attention to her in previous viewings of the film. Watching it right now and it is very easy to believe that her lines were dubbed in later.

I didn't think she was awesome but she didn't suck, she was better to watch act then Kristen Stewart is in anything she is in.

Oddly, I thought the other actress who played Ellen was much worse--could not read her lines well. Martha grew on me--she seemed to get better through the movie. As for why she got the part--she is Estelle Parsons' daughter--enough said.
