Holy Crap!!!! (again)

They had a budget of 4,000,000...And they made THIS! I've seen movies with $20,000 budgets that created better movies than this.

Oh well, at least it was gory.

thats proably what they spent there money on, all that fake blood and guts. Why even waste your time on this movie dude?

Shoot pass kick there ass

reply

I'm glad they spent all their money on fake blood, it made the movie a bit tastier, If you know what I mean. *evil vincent price laugh*

Only a moron would produce a movie like this. All it was is $4,000,000 down the tube. What did they accomplish with this movie? It got poor ratings, and no fans. No one has ever heard of this movie. Think of what they could of done with that $4 million.

You are obviously not a dedicated gorehound, like me.

You are not a B-Movie fanatic either, also like me.

Saaad. It must be hard watching a Bad Movie without the ability to laugh at the stupidity of it all. You should try it sometime, it's an excellent cure for deppression, take it from an excpert.

your only 14 first of all. Why would i want to be dedicated to movies like these, or for any movie in that aspect. How could you be an expert? Your only like a freshman in High school, get a life buddy.

You don't have to dedicate your life to crappy movies, (I certaintly haven't) just don't judge them as harshly as you would a Good Movie. Except when they're big budgeted crap-fests, Like "Cutthroat Island". Movies that cost $95 million dollars should at least have good acting.

And, I'm most certanley not an expert on Movies, yet. I was referring to being an expert on...let's skip that.

I liked the movie. Fun.

$4 million back in 1985 wasn't a budget to sneeze at for a cheesy horror flick. But the limitations of special effects in the time period was quite disproportional with this budget (probably needed at least another $4 mil to make the planet look less like a set and more like a genuine alien location).

The somewhat similarly plotted Pitch Black, made 15 years after Creature, cost around $20 mil, but did a way better job with its resources than Creature's filmmakers, I'd say partially because CGI can do wonders in terms of cost-effectiveness but also because the filmmakers just showed more craft and dedication to the material.

I think they were more dedicated in the good 'ole days. Have you seen 'The Rats' (Robert Clouse)? Today the director would say summit like; "Hey nerd boy, whip me up a horde of cartoony rats, and make it snappy." Robert on the other hand trained a fleet of Dachshunds to act like rats and hand-crafted 'rat-suits' for them all to wear.

Now THAT is dedication!

Actually the budgets of movies back then and probably today as well are inflated to seem higher so that the producers can ask more money for them when they sell them. The actual budget was $750,000... less than "Mutant" and "Galaxy of Terror" by more than $400,000.

Not to mention shooting the film in Panavision (anamorphic lenses) which are far more expensive and require much more light. That couldn't have helped...

"Last survivor of the Nostromo...signing off..."

Also, Klaus Kinski was a respectable actor in those days, I wouldn't be surprised if he was paid at least a million or two of the budget.

Did he and Werner Herzog part ways, or did Werner branch out into films not needing Kinski?
I remember Klaus for his part in FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE

but this begs that question: Don't you have ANYTHING better to do with your time-maybe get to know what kissing a girl is really like (instead of imagining) or doing something constructive?

reply

I don't think fake blood costs $4,000,000 lol. A lot of it probably went to cocaine for the producers lol......this was the 1980's!

reply

You forgot about the budget for call girls.

Also, coke was more in the 70s. At least good coke was. And then squares found out about it, and it got cut with baby laxative, elephant tranquilizer and smack.

reply

Yes that too lol

reply

The budget wasn't actually that number, do some research on it.
